Growing Structures / A Ballard of Things is a CCW Teaching and Learning / EDI funded project (24-26) based in the grounds of Wilson Road, Camberwell College of Arts. It’s a staff / student, cross-course collaboration around ecology and horticulture.

Different courses have been working with the project in different ways: BA Fine Art Sculpture students installed outdoor works amongst the structure, a student from BA Fine Art Painting grew herbs and presented a painting around witchcraft, BA Fine Art Photography ran Chromatography workshops using soil in the development process and BA Fine Drawing made water drawings and temporary structures.

I’ve set up a cross-disciplinary gardening club across Design and Fine Art with the opportunity to think about global approaches to gardening cultures, and for students from different courses to share approaches to ecology within their practices.
